The Pacific

For Parents/Guardians

Pima Partnership High School has several unique aspects designed to help your child succeed

Highly Qualified Staff

Pima Partnership High School is accredited by the North Central Accreditation Association. The continuous improvement model of the accreditation insures the continued upgrading of faculty knowledge and standards. The school administrator has nearly 25 years of experience as a teacher and administrator.

The Learning Center

Pima Partnership High School shares its facilities with several social service programs at the Learning Center under the umbrella of The Partnership. These programs include:

This on-site support allows PPHS to address issues in a holistic fashion with students and their families.

Charter Mission

Pima Partnership High School is an Arizona public charter school that is dedicated to bringing challenging educational opportunities to its student body. Those opportunities involve exploration and enhancement of the whole student intellectually, socially, and personally. As a result, students are exposed to many diverse activities that can help them grow into a fully engaged and confident citizen.

Advisory

Each day students meet with a specific teacher in a classroom setting as home base. This advisory period is designed to help students begin the day in a positive state of mind. The entire school population begin each day in a morning meeting for the Pledge of Allegiance, announcements, celebrations and a moment of silence. Students then go to their advisories where they work on various activities to enhance each student personal skills as well as build communities. We use several curricula like positive Behavior Supports, Seven Habits for Highly Effective Teens and Thinking for A Change to empower students to negotiate their way through the challenges of the present and the future.

Content Area Assistance

Our highly qualified staff have expertise in specific content area such as mathematics, social studies and language arts. In addition, PPHS is enhancing and developing a comprehensive vocational education component that prepares students for the world of work. In all of these areas, our teachers are available for after school tutoring. We also have a regular Saturday tutoring component to help students stay on track and earn all the credit for which they are scheduled.

Extended Day Programs

In collaboration with its sponsoring agency, The Partnership, the Partnership School is open from 7:00 a.m. each morning and students are to leave by 4:30 p.m. The school day begins at 8:30 a.m., Monday through Friday. Currently, classes conclude at 3:30 p.m. on Monday - Friday. There are many activities after the regular dismissal time of 3:30 p.m. in which students can participate. There is a game room with pool and tennis tables, juke box and other activities. Tutoring or academic counseling is also available.

Personal Learning Plans

Each student has his or her own curriculum based on personal interests, individual needs, learning goals and graduation requirements. The student's learning team, comprised of his/her parents or guardian, advisor/teacher, mentor and self, designs an individualized program of work for which the entire team has responsibility.

Individualized Scheduling

Because of the variety in students' learning plans, the school's philosophy is that a single whole-school schedule is not conducive to individual success. With the help of his/her advisor, each student creates a weekly individual schedule based on the work s/he needs to do, the resources s/he needs to find and his/her internship or other work outside of school.
