Tucson Program Sin Puertas  Stands out in Southwest Study

Outpatient Treatment for Substance Use and Mental Health Disorders

The Sin Puertas Outpatient Clinic, operated by Pima Prevention Partnership, provides substance abuse treatment services for teens needing help. Staffed by trained professionals, Sin Puertas is licensed by the Arizona Department of Health Services. The Clinic achieved national recognition in 2010 from the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) by receiving a Science to Service Award for helping teens stay sober and crime-free over longer than average periods of time following treatment.

The Sin Puertas staff offers many services to young people, who are referred. The types of services a youth receives are based on the answers a youth provides during the intake assessment. In short, treatment services are structured to meet all of the needs a youth may express during intake, which informs and marks the beginning of treatment. For example, youths may also receive case management to support their goals for stable housing, for enrolling in a school, or to participate in job training.
